External Snapshot demo

Post by jpgarraio » Sun Jan 28, 2018 11:21 pm

Hi guys,

A quick video tutorial on how to import and use external snapshots.
RNAV approach 02 in Kathmandu Nepal using external snapshot found in this forum

Cheers,

Excellent demo! Many thanks.

Could you clarify whether the snapshot includes preset weather? I understand we can always set the weather we wish, but importing the snapshot did not seem to give me the same weather as used in your demo. (Correction: I just realized I didn't click on "Weather", then "Send Weather.")

By the way, when nav data are updated (say, the runway heading changes a bit), will the same snapshot automatically give me the correct FMS and MCP settings? It's fine if the answer is no.

Hi,

Did you select FSiPAnel as weather source?
Weather is supposed to be set even if you don't press SEND WEATHER.

2: No, FMC will not be changed if navdata change in the future..

Safe approaches!

Hi J-P I also have the same issue with the weather not being set. I've tried it with both the 737 and the 747 and on both the weather is clear blue skies all the way down. If I "send " weather then there are clouds but runway is still visible from 6 miles and all the way down to ground.

I've just tried the Zurich snapshot and that works fine.

I recall I did switch to FSiPanel (from AS) as weather source in the settings. After I used "Send Weather", I received similar weather. Of course, as I was using REX clouds, I didn't see exactly the same clouds as in your demo.

Hi Brian,

I think the problem is related to the weather units set to US on your system while my weather file was created using Metric.
Are you using metric system on your Flightsim?

I have changed now the code on the latest version but I still need to update the snapshot files, then everything should be fine.

Cheers,

J-P

Ok I'll check I hope it's not set to US! I'd be most annoyed

If I'm looking in the right place then it's set to Hybrid (feet, millibars) is this where you meant?
