P3Dv5 with PMDGXu crashing

Post by Hobbsy »

Hello,

Already sent a support email but maybe if I also post it here, it might help someone else down the road (assuming there is a solution).

After using and enjoying FSiPanel on FSX for years I decided to upgrade to p3dv5 and pick up FSiPanel 2020 as well and this is where my problems have started.
While I have set up all of my PMDG NGXu through FSUIPC, that is all I have done.
I have turned off my Active Sky but do have the usual scenery addons installed
(UTX USA & CAN + my various airports).

For the most part I cannot even get through one short final approach setup before P3d crashes and am absolutely baffled. I am no software techy, so please treat me as pretty dumb with any suggestions I hope you have.

Hi J-P,
Just an update on my situation: I have removed my FSUIPC .ini file, thus building a new one and have absolutely no controls input from FSUIPC and have just the basics now set up with p3dv5.

1. Start p3dv5 and select PMDG NGXu
2. place my a/c at the airport I am going to use for my approach.
3. Start FSiPanel and select my runway at that airport, select short or long final
4. Select move a/c and modify load.
5. FSiPanel places my a/c at the start of the approach and starts the configuration process.
6. Most times I do not get to the request to hit brakes for 2 secs or not long after taking control, the sim freezes and stops responding.
7. The W10 event viewer records that p3dv5 had stopped interacting with Windows and was closed.

This occurs at any airport, anywhere, default or addon. I am completely at a loss and tried everything within my limitations with no success.
Regards,
Richard.

Hi Richard,

I think we spoke by mail recently.
Could it be a corrupted P3D installation?

Hi J-P.
I certainly would not count that out and was getting ready to do a complete deinstallation and clean install of everything. However I sent you a email asking one question, Is your software compatible with V5.3? Before I go through this lengthy process, I would appreciate it if you could let me know if that is the version you are running on your rig, because that is one piece of info I omitted to tell you when I started this investigation.

Complete clean uninstall/reinstall, new installers, registry clean before reinstall, all fiewalls and virus protection off.

Same problem.

Very strange, can we plan a Teamviewer session?
Maybe you can show me the problem.

Hi J-P.
I have now done a second complete uninstall of P3Dv5 and of course all of my addons. I then reinstalled P3dv5 with newly downloaded installer from a CheckSum verified zip file, reinstalled and extensively tested NGXu with no issues. I then reinstalled my addon airports all with new installers, extensively testing after each install and I now have my sim graphics etc set where I want them and I have had zero issues flying star and approaches at many airports default & addon. This of course done without my favorite addon, FSiPanel so it has taken me days to get where I am right now.

My problem is now that I want to install & test FSiPanel, but am really nervous that if by chance it is something to do with FSiPanel because of something that my particular rig is reacting to it, can I just uninstall and have my sim where it is right now?

Hi,

Sure you can, FSiPanel does not modify any configuration file (P3D and PMDG).
Let me know the result.

Hi J-P.

Sorry to report that after extensive testing of the NGXu in my sim from clean reinstall of sim to completion of addon installs without any problems or abnormalities, as soon as I attempt to use FSiPanel, P3D hangs. sometimes it will allow me to complete one approach but hangs on any further repeats of that approach but often will not allow me to complete the first approach. This with no weather and no traffic.

What exactly happens is FSiPanel positions the a/c at the start of the approach and begins to configure the NGXu, but before it can hand over the a/c the curser (mouse pointer) turns into a circle and the sim stops responding (freezes). FSiPanel can sometimes on a long final app, manage to set up and hand over control, but the sim will hang before I can complete the approach.

I really can't see that I have any corruption in my installation because I have been flying for two weeks and put in several hours of different flight scenarios between each addon installation with no abnormal occurrences.

The following is a copy of a typical error report from Windows Event Viewer but have no idea if helpful or not:
