No landing report in strong crosswinds

Post by vandalay »

When I practise landings in strong crosswinds (like 30G35kts from -90 degrees), I don´t get a landing report at all, even if I manage to perform a "perfect" landing. As soon as I switch to normal weather the reports are shown again after the landing.

Any ideas?

Btw: I´m not able to search the forums. When I enter "landing report" or any other search term in the search field I always get this message:
The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: report landing.

Hi Art,

Could you tell me which airport you tried, runway and wind information.

Hi J.P.,

of course:

Munich - EDDM - RWY08L.
Weather Preset "Scattered Clouds"
Ground Layer Winds altered to 350@30 and Gusts 350/35
FSiPanel RWY08L - Fix 4nm@2700ft - Prof:Final - Flaps30

I just tried it again to give you the correct data but this time it worked. Report showed up.
Strange.....last time I started with realtime-weather and then switched to the values above, and that didn´t work.
This time I started with the manual weather and it worked.
I will report if it happens again.

In the meantime thank you for this great tool. It´s an absolute gamechanger for me in perfecting my landing technique and saving a lot of time.

Greetings

To start recording the data during the approach and to avoid recording data when the pilot overflies the center line on vectors, I check distance to threshold and also aircraft heading which should be in relation to LOC course (in case of manoeuvers). Maybe with strong wind, your heading vs LOC course is such that FSiPanel doesn't see you established.
